I M Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy

The I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy (MMA) is considered the oldest and the biggest national medical higher educational institution. In the year 1758 it started its journey with just six students at the faculty of Imperial Moscow University. In 1930 the medical faculty got separated from Moscow State University to become the first Moscow Medical Institute. With the aim of creating a perfect elite educational foundation and inculcate deeper integrated research, the country’s most powerful medical institute was reorganized as the Medical Academy.

Today this Academy plays a leading role in the development of medical science and training, certification, and advanced training of medical, pharmaceutical and scientific personnel. The members of the staff of the Academy are finely placed as experts and consultants of the World Health Organization. As per the UNESCO international’s ratings, the Moscow Medical Academy occupies the second place closely next to Rene Descartes Academy of Medical Sciences. MMA is beyond thought the best medical school in Russia. The MMA Diploma is recognized by WHO and the Medical Councils of numerous countries.

The Academy has a firmly studded infrastructure and expanding premises with 11 faculties, 115 academic departments, scientific research and clinical centers, an editorial and publishing section, 18 clinics, a library, and other subdivisions. Moscow Medical Academy has 69 buildings for studies, classrooms and lecture halls, the clinical centre with 18 diverse clinics which can accommodate 3080 patients any give period of time, a large united scientific centre, several research institutes, fundamental library, laboratories, botanical garden, and a stadium. The total area of the Academy training and laboratory premises exceeds 200,000 sq meters or 25 sq m per student. The academy has four swanky student hostels for 1,770 people. The Academy has been collaborating with 40 therapeutic-prophylactic and apothecary institutions, the research centers and institutes in Moscow. About 8000 students from Russia and foreign countries study annually in the Academy. They are trained in Medicine, Preventive Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Dentistry (since 2001).

The I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy has with held considerable experience in the international students training. The academy from 1949 to date has churned over 2000 specialists across 87 countries.
